Zum Wochenabschluss noch ein paar Daten,
~ zu nächst von gestern noch die US-Geldmengen , saisonbereinigt, für die Woche zum 15. Oktober 2001:
<ul><ul> ~ M1 um 3,5 Mrd USD auf 1.145,4 (Vorwoche: 1.148,9) Mrd USD gesunken
~ M2 fiel um 1,1 Mrd USD auf 5.385,2 (5.385,2) Mrd USD
~ M3 stieg dagegen um 8,4 Mrd USD auf 7.877,9 (7.869,5) Mrd USD
In den vergangenen 13 Wochen belief sich M1 durchschnittlich und saisonbereinigt nach Angaben des Federal Reserve Board vom Donnerstag auf 1.156,1 Mrd USD.

~ The final October reading was revised down slightly from the preliminary reading of 83.4.
~ Confidence remains far higher than it was during the last recession. During the second half of 1990, it fell to almost 60.
~ The assessment of current conditions improved slightly since the first reading to 94 from 92.1
~ The expectations component, however, weakened to 75.5 form 77.9, though it is now equal to the final September reading.

<ul> ~ die Zahlen:
~ New home sales slowed slightly to an 864,000 unit annualized pace in September, besting expectations of 850,000 units.
~ September home sales represent a 1.3% drop from the downwardly revised August number of 876,000 units, and a 4.2% drop from last September’s 902,000 unit level. July’s home sales numbers were revised upwards.
~ The median home sales price continues to drop, falling to $162,400 in September, the lowest thus far this year. This is a 5.08% drop from the upwardly revised August median home sales price of $171,100.
~ Inventories of new homes rose modestly to 4.4 months’ excess supply.
~ New homes sales fell sharpest in the Northeast, dropping 26.5% from the August numbers. The Midwest is the only region that saw an upswing in new home sales, which rose nearly 21.3% in September.
