Providence Capital Announces Special Shareholder Meeting To Discuss Stillwater Mining's Strategic Alternatives
NEW YORK, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Providence Capital announced it will hold a special shareholder meeting for institutional investors regarding the future of Stillwater Mining Company (NYSE: SWC - news). On October 26, 2001, Stillwater Mining announced that the company had hired Salomon Smith Barney and J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. to review funding requirements and strategic alternatives. Stillwater Mining also announced it is ``exploring on a preliminary basis financial alternatives with interested third parties.'' These statements came the day of Stillwater's third quarter conference call, in which the Company reviewed a potential funding gap that has resulted from the rapid decline in palladium prices.
