>
GEOCOSMIC MARKET CLIMATE FOR WEEK BEGINNING JANUARY 21, 2002
>
>Mercury now turns retrograde through February 8. Typically this is time band when technical and chart signals vacillate quickly from bullish to bearish, as investor sentiment becomes rather fickle. Such sudden changes are oftentimes precipitated by fundamental news, much of which can actually be inaccurate or misleading. Compounding that can be announcements and decisions not made with the clearest of thinking. Oftentimes these decisions can be regrettable, or at least in need of changes later on. In dealing with your broker, for instance, you would be well advised to make sure he repeats your order back to you. And listen carefully to be certain that he says “buy” where you meant to “buy,” and “sell” when you meant to “sell.”
>Venus and Mars also change signs now, with the former moving into Aquarius and the later in Aries. Venus in Aquarius may be helpful to any negotiation processes that may be taking place. It can correspond with an atmosphere of friendliness, and a wish to do what is right for the majority of people. But it can also pertain to a struggle in coming to an agreement in fiscal (financial) policies. Mars in Aries, as mentioned previously, tends to coincide with an increase in bravado, particularly of the military kind. I would anticipate the next six weeks may see a step-up in the military campaign against terrorism, or bold threats of the same. Of course, with Saturn still in opposition to Pluto overhanging every other aspect, this Mars in Aries could present problems. There may be new and unexpected initiatives on the war front, like a new “battle plan” soon to be announced.
>When planets change signs, it augurs a change in investor sentiment. New issues come to the fore which tend to worry investors and speculators alike. However, with Mercury turning retrograde at the same time, there may be difficulty accepting these new objects of attention. The result may be confusing. Or, we may find many investors just stubbornly refusing to adjust to the new paradigms, as if to say, “we are not ready yet to consider these new ideas.” It is almost like Neptune, as in a sense of denial of reality, in favor of holding on to one’s mistaken delusions.
>At the end of this forthcoming week, Saturn will trine Neptune for the second time. Perhaps there will be news regarding the concerns of biological and chemical weapons. Perhaps there will be discovery of the person(s) responsible for the anthrax poisoning attacks of last Fall. At the same time, both the Sun and Venus will conjunct Neptune between Friday, January 25 and Monday, January 28. Along with Mercury retrograde, this could be a period of massive confusion. Rumors may be rampant, and reports of fraud and deception may strike the headlines. This is even more exaggerated because at the same time, Mars will square Jupiter, which is an aspect that can coincide with both poor judgement (exaggeration) and excessive anger.
>In terms of markets, large price swings are very possible as we enter this highly charged reversal zone between January 23-28. The Crude Oil market is especially vulnerable now. In terms of personal behavior, this is a period when it would be wise not to become over-confident and arrogant. Moderation should be the key if you wish to prosper during the next 10 days. Temptations are strong, and with that comes the risk of mistakes in judgement.
