Venezuela crisis: Market refuse business with present PDVSA management

The oil trading markets have refuse to do business with PDVSA present
management, PDVSA had to withdrawn one of two 2.4-mil bbl gasoline buy
tenders it issued, a source at the Venezuelan state company said
Wednesday,
reported Platts.
"They definitely need the gasoline," one source said."The only reason I
could think is that they were not getting any offers." Platts quoted
from
market sources.
Platts reported on Wednesday that PDVSA put out two tenders last week to
buy
a total of 4.8-mil bbl of premium unleaded 93 gasoline. The PDVSA source
say
to Platts, only that the move was related to the"offers."
For PDVSA gasoline tenders are very unusual because PDVSA is usually a
large
gasoline exporter. But due to the 53 day crisis situation presently at
Venezuela with oil industry at stop since Dec. 2, strike has disrupted
crude
and products output and forced PDVSA to become an importer.
Both PDVSA tenders called for the gasoline to be delivered to Curacao,
where
PDVSA has the Isla refinery where it produces gasoline and its located
near
the northwest coast of Venezuela, according to sources.
Sources speculated that PDVSA may have found it unrealistic to supply
all of
its gasoline demand through imports."The new PDVSA are desperate for
gas,
but no way they can put a cargo a day in Venezuela," another source
said.
"But look at it this way, that tells you that they have not been able to
put
refineries back in track and that are not planning to do so." according
to
Platts.
Sources estimate that Venezuelan gasoline demand is about 250,000 b/d,
or
one cargo a day.
