NEW YORK, Oct 23 (Reuters) - Canadian gold miner Goldcorp Inc said on Tuesday its third-quarter earnings and revenues rose sharply, citing increased production and higher gold prices.
The Toronto-based company said its third-quarter earnings totaled $10.6 million, or 13 cents per share, compared with a loss of $200,000, or nil per share, in the year-ago quarter.
Revenues rose $17.6 million to $34.6 million from the third-quarter of 2000.
Goldcorp said it planned to increase its 2001 production forecasts for its Red Lake mine in Northern Ontario by 5 percent to 500,000 ounces of gold, citing the mine's ``continued strong performance.''
The company expects 2001 earnings of 61 cents per share, compared to its previous guidance of 55 cents per share.
